Work and learn
What is work and learn?+
An 18-month programme in which you learn a trade while you work. You work 4 days at an employer and train 1 day. Both are paid. During the programme you are employed by NEXTHANDS.
Do I need experience or a diploma?+
No. You learn the trade with us and at your employer. We mainly look at whether you are keen on the work and whether others can count on you.
Is there an age limit?+
No. Have you worked in another line of work for years, or do you want to get back to work after a while? You are welcome.
Which trades can I start in?+
In five trades: technical, logistics, transport, care and IT. Not sure yet? Then we work out together what suits you.
What do I gain along the way?+
Recognised trade certificates. Which ones depends on the trade, for example VCA and NEN 3140 in technical work.
Where will I work?+
At an employer somewhere in the Netherlands, as close to home as possible.
What happens after 18 months?+
By then you are a skilled professional. Together with your employer we discuss your next step: staying on, moving up or getting an MBO diploma.
Pay
What do I earn during work and learn?+
€2,300–2,600 net per month.
When do I start getting paid?+
From your first working day.
Is the training day paid as well?+
Yes. The training day is part of your working week and is paid as usual.
And for a job right away?+
Then you are paid according to the collective agreement for that trade. The salary is listed with every vacancy.
Who pays my salary?+
We do. You get your pay and a payslip every month.

Do I need a driving licence?+
Not for every trade. We ask so we know which workplaces you can reach.

Employers
How does NEXTHANDS work for employers?+
We find and select people for your staffing need. With work and learn we train them into skilled professionals together with you. If you need someone with experience, you can also hire them directly.
Who employs the worker?+
During work and learn your new colleague is employed by us. We carry the employer risk during that time.
What does it cost?+
That depends on your need and the service. An introduction is free and without obligation. We then set out prices and arrangements in a proposal.
